Did you get your username and password as well as proxy IP and port details?

If so did you configure your web browser to user the proxy?

Were you asked for user name and password while trying to access the web site?

What kind of error did oyu get?

this is due to BBC Desktop Downloader application uses system-wide Windows proxy settings, i.e. Internet Explorer should be configured to use our proxy even if you prefer FireFox, Opera or any othe browser.

I am having the same problem with the iplayer downloader on my Mac. The iplayer itself works, but the downloader will not (can only be used in the UK). I have changed the system preferences to reflect the proxy settings, but still it will not run. Any suggestions?

I am afraid we have not tested it on Mac but the system-wide proxy settings should solve the problem.

When setting the Safari preferences, what should I call this proxy? The options are: FTP Proxy, Web (HTTP) Proxy, Secure Web proxy (RTSP), SOCKS proxy, Gopher proxy or Automatic Proxy Configuration or any combination of them.
Also, should I use the Passive FTP Mode (PASV)?

Thanks P

Here is the manual for Safari https://www.xroxy.com/configure.htm#safari

Our proxies should work fine with Web (HTTP) Proxy and Secure Web proxy (HTTPS)
