Proxy Configuration Guide

Just got it working.....brilliant stuff ! I can watch the Beeb, etc. to my hearts content now !!!
If it continues to work like this, this will be a bloody super thing for me !! It's a great service to have available for ex-pats.

Our premium proxy service was specifically designed to work with web browsers including FireFox, Opera, Internet Explorer and others. On the other hand, it is technically possible that you can configure almost any networked application to work through our proxy. To do so please read the following manual.

Before we start you should make sure you have received not only username and password from PayPal but your proxy IP address and port number as well. Proxy details were sent to you by email. If you did not receive the email from the system you can obtain your proxy details here.

Below you will find quick user guides for configuring most popular software packages (FireFox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera) to work with our premium proxy service.

FireFox, versions 2.x.x and 3.x.x

  • If you are using version 2.0.x select menu Edit -> Preferences otherwise select menu Tools -> Options.
  • Select "Advanced" tab.
  • Open "Network" tab.
  • Click "Settings" button in the "Connections" area.

You will see the following "Connection Settings" dialog below.

FireFox Connection Settings
  • Select "Manual proxy configuration"
  • Enter your HTTP proxy IP address and port number.
  • Click "Use this proxy server for all protocols".
  • Click "OK" button to activate new proxy settings.

Internet Explorer, versions 6.0, 7.0, 8.0

  • Select Tools -> Internet Options.
  • Select the "Connections" tab.
  • If you are using LAN, click "LAN Settings" button. If you are using Dial-up or Virtual Private Network connection, select necessary connection and click "Settings" button.

You will see the following "LAN Settings" dialog below.

Internet Explorer LAN Settings
  • Unselect "Automatically detect proxy settings" checkbox.
  • Unselect "Use automatic configuration script" option.
  • In the "Proxy Server" area, click the check box next to "Use a proxy server for your LAN".
  • Enter proxy server IP address and proxy port.
  • Enable "Bypass proxy server for local addresses".
  • Click "Advanced" button right next to proxy port field.

You will see the following "Proxy Settings" dialog below.

Internet Explorer Proxy Settings
  • Click "Use the same proxy server for all protocols".
  • Click "OK" button to activate new proxy settings.

Safari, version 4.x.x

  • Click on the Apple menu and select "System Preferences".
  • Select "Network".
  • Open the "Proxies" tab.

You will see the following "Network Proxies" dialog below.

Safari Proxy Settings
  • Check "Web Proxy" and "Secure Web Proxy".
  • Enter your HTTP proxy IP address and port number for both protocols.
  • Click "Apply Now" button to activate new proxy settings.

Opera version 9.xx

  • Select menu Tools -> Preferences.
  • Open the "Advanced" tab and select "Network" sub-category.
  • Click the "Proxy servers" button.

You will see the following "Proxy Servers" dialog below.

Opera Proxy Servers
  • Tick "HTTP", "HTTPS" and "FTP" checkboxes and enter your proxy IP address and port number.
  • Also you might want to "Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy".
  • Click "OK" button to activate new proxy settings.
